A Quantitative Analysis of Cell Tower Trace Data for Understanding Human Mobility and Mobile Networks
نویسندگان
چکیده
This paper provides insights into human mobility by analyzing cell tower traces. Cell tower trace data is an attractive method for studying mobility as the data can be collected in an energy-efficient and privacy-preserving way. Our new data set is useful for confirming or determining fundamental mobility parameters and for understanding mobile networks. In particular, we identify patterns in the data that would seem characteristic for particular behaviors, such as travel or work. Understanding Temporal Human Mobility Patterns in a City by Mobile Cellular Data Mining, Case Study: Tehran City
Recent studies have shown that urban complex behaviors like human mobility should be examined by newer and smarter methods. The ubiquitous use of mobile phones and other smart communication devices helps us use a bigger amount of data that can be browsed by the hours of the day, the days of the week, geographic area, meteorological conditions, and so on. In this article, mobile cellular data mi...
متن کاملMulti-modal Modeling of Urban Mobility
Design and efficacy of a routing protocol for mobile ad-hoc networks strongly depends on the underlying mobility pattern of the mobile nodes. Counter to the perception of mobility being random in time and space, we show that spatial modality is a key trait of human mobility. Most of the mobility of an individual can be captured by a small fraction of all locations, called spatial modes, visited...

The Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) provides wireless and mobile communication between vehicles and infrastructure to improve the safety of transportation and make the journey more enjoyable. This system consists of many fixed and mobile nodes (Vehicles, Trains, Vessels, Air planes), Wireless and Wired Telecommunication Technologies to exchange information between mobile nodes or betwee...
متن کاملSocial Media and Social Mobility: Exploring the Role of Social Networks in the 2018 Boycott Campaign in Morocco
Social networks have been resorted to as effective platforms for social mobility in many parts of the world. This mobility occurs when social media users exploit their interpersonal relationships, especially their ‘weak ties’ (Granovetter, 1973). Social networks enable their users to be producers of information, rather than mere consumers, and to be socially and politically well-informed. They ...
متن کاملEnergy Efficient Routing in Mobile Ad Hoc Networks by Using Honey Bee Mating Optimization
Mobile Ad hoc networks (MANETs) are composed of mobile stations communicating through wireless links, without any fixed backbone support. In these networks, limited power energy supply, and frequent topology changes caused by node mobility, makes their routing a challenging problem. TORA is one of the routing protocols that successfully copes with the nodes’ mobility side effects, but it do...
